Alumni Meeting 2017

Meeting highlights

More than 300 alumni registered to attend the meeting, and finally 215 checked in at one or more of the events. Our goal was to have 10% of the entire alumni community there (170 of you), so the turnout surpassed our expectations!

Participants came from 28 countries

Countries with the most alumni who attended the meeting were Spain, United Kingdom, Germany, France, and Switzerland.

Other countries represented were: Albania, Austria, Belgium, British Virgin Islands, Colombia, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Finland, Hungary, India, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Peru, Portugal, Romania, Sweden, Turkey, and the United States.

Faculty "tertúlia"

Professors from the masters Jaume Ventura, Hannes Mueller, and Massimo Motta led a discussion on current topics in Economics research.

The new Alumni Initiative

We heard about the new Alumni Initiative from BSE leaders and staff including Teresa Garcia-Milà, Director of the BSE; Ramon Marimon, Chairman of the BSE; Joan Rubió, Communications and Engagement Manager; and Frederic Vandyck, the new Alumni Relations Officer.

We also heard from three alumni: Daniele Alimonti (EPP '16), Ilaria Vigo (EPP '16), and Thomas Woiczyk (Economics '14)

Firewalk: success starts in your mind!

The last activity before dinner was the firewalk. It's tough to explain, so you'll just have to ask someone who was there what this was all about!

Closing dinner and iPad winners!

We ended the day with dinner at Arenal Restaurant, where the two winners of the iPads from the networking game were announced. They were Dora Simon (ITFD '14) and Gábor Malatinszky (Macro '16). Congratulations! 

After dinner, the party continued at SalCafé...

Celebrating 10 years of BSE masters

The meeting took place during the BSE's 10th Anniversary celebration. Many alumni took advantage of the occasion to attend the celebration activities, such as the roundtable with BSE Scientific Council members on "The Practical Influence of Economics Research"
