BSE launches new Master in Data Science
The Barcelona School of Economics is launching the first edition of its new Master in Data Science. This new master program will prepare graduates to design and build data-driven systems for decision-making in the private or public sector.
The data revolution and the increasing demand for data scientists
Data Science program directors Prof. Christian Fons-Rosen (UPF and BSE) and Omiros Papaspiliopoulos (ICREA-UPF and BSE) observe that "The world is experiencing a data revolution. The volume and scope of available data related to human activity and the state of the world is unprecedented and represents a new and exciting opportunity for firms, organizations, governments as well as researchers."
Data scientists use statistical and machine learning methods, optimization and computing in order to identify and leverage opportunities for data-driven value creation. The demand for qualified data scientists has exploded in recent years, and is expected to continue growing as data availability penetrates more and more aspects of the economy.
