Julian di Giovanni appointed BSE Deputy Director for Research
Professor Julian di Giovanni (UPF and BSE) has been appointed Deputy Director for Research at the BSE. He relieves Prof. Nezih Guner, who served in the position since 2013.
The Deputy Director for Research plays a central role in defining and coordinating the research initiatives of the BSE. His responsibilities cover a wide range of initiatives, including the Economics Trobada, the Summer Forum, and the BSE Lectures. He also oversees the deployment of the Severo Ochoa distinction, the Recognition Program, and the support to the PhD programs at UAB and UPF.
About Julian di Giovanni
Professor Julian di Giovanni (PhD, University of California-Berkeley) is Marie Curie IIF Fellow at UPF, Associate Researcher at CREI, and BSE Research Professor. He is also a Research Fellow at CEPR. Previously he was Economist at the International Monetary Fund and Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto.
His research focuses on the interaction between international trade and macroeconomic fluctuations. He has been a panel member of Economic Policy and is Associate Editor of the Journal of International Economics (2016-2018). In addition to his research activities and his role as BSE Research Director, Prof. di Giovanni also teaches in the BSE Master Program in Economics and the Barcelona CREI Macroeconomics Summer School.
