Narayana Kocherlakota discusses practical policy evaluation at 16th Economics "Trobada"
The 16th annual BSE Economics "Trobada" took place on October 5, 2018 at the UPF Balmes Building in downtown Barcelona. The "Trobada" is held at the beginning of every academic year so that BSE Affiliated Professors from all academic units as well as post-docs and PhD students can get together to welcome new colleagues and catch up on the latest research in the community.

This year, the BSE welcomes three new Affiliated Professors:

David Rossell (UPF and BSE)

Research Interests: High-dimensional Inference, Experimental Design, Dimensionality Reduction, Applied Statistical Modelling
Victoria Vanasco (CREI, UPF and BSE)
PhD, University of California, Berkeley
Research Interests: Corporate Finance, Security Design, Asymmetric Information, Mechanism Design, Macrofinance
Professor Monràs was one of two Affiliated Professors who presented research at the "Trobada", speaking on "Immigration and Host Economies." A non-technical summary of his work on this topic was recently published by VoxEU. The other presenter was Amedeo Piolatto (UAB and BSE), who spoke about his work on "Political Economy and Digital Economics."

This edition of the "Trobada" featured a special presentation by Narayana Kocherlakota (University of Rochester) on "Practical Policy Evaluation." Professor Kocherlakota is the former President and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis (United States).
The "Trobada" is one of the BSE research initiatives supported by the Severo Ochoa Research Excellence Accreditation.
Philippe Aghion delivers BSE Lecture on missing growth
Immediately following the "Trobada," BSE researchers were joined by students in the Master's programs and other guests for the 39th BSE Lecture. The speaker was Philippe Aghion (College de France and London School of Economics), who presented work he's doing on "Rethinking Growth: The Schumpeterian Perspective."
