Ada Ferrer-i-Carbonell is a Tenured Scientist at IAE-CSIC and an Affiliated Professor of the Barcelona School of Economics (BSE). She was the first director of the BSE Master's Program in Economics of Public Policy. She is also BSE's Deputy Director for Academic Programs.
Professor Ferrer-i-Carbonell is Research Fellow of IZA (Institute for the Study of Labor), and member of INSIDE (Insights on Immigration and Development). She is associate editor of the Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization.
She is a member of the GINI project and was a member of the EU projects EPICURUS and Health@Work. She is a panelist and former director of the World Wellbeing Survey.
Ferrer-i-Carbonell has PhDs in Economics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (USA) and the Tinbergen Institute (University of Amsterdam).
Her main research area is the econometric analysis of subjective measures used as a proxy for welfare and well-being so as to address a range of scientifically and politically relevant questions. She has also worked on individual behavior and sustainable consumption.
In addition to her research and teaching activities, Professor Ferrer-i-Carbonell serves as President of the Scientific Advisory Council within the Science and Universities Department of Barcelona's city government.
