Gianmarco León-Ciliotta is an Associate Professor at the Department of Economics and Business at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF), Affiliated Professor at the Barcelona School of Economics (BSE) and IPEG, and a Research Affiliate at J-PAL, CEPR and BREAD.
Professor León-Ciliotta's research focuses on political economics in developing countries and more broadly on development economics. His research uses both observational data and field experiments to explore questions related to the selection and incentives of public sector workers and politicians, exploring how different accountability institutions affect public policy, among others.
He co-organizes the VDEV-CEPR-BREAD Virtual Development Seminar Series. He is also an Associate Editor of the Economic Journal.
